we went to europe: versailles

Because we had a car we couldn't really stay anywhere in Paris without paying an obscene amount of money for parking. SO, we stayed in Versailles instead, which turned out to be way more charming and perfect for us in the end.


The Versailles chateau is, wow. It is so lavish, ostentatious, and so over the top. King Louis XIV was a real, ahem, douche to have built himself such a place. Haha I liked his bedroom with the guard rail that lucky courtesans stood behind to watch him wake up in the morning. And the fact that all the roads in Versailles lead to his bedroom--come on.


Okay, enough harping. Thanks to him, we have a pretty chateau and garden to gawk at. We went on the weekend because we knew the fountains would be on and classical music playing throughout the gardens. I really wanted to see Marie Antoinette's play house so we walked seriously miles only to find out it was closed. CLOSED! I was so tired of walking and we had to walk all the way back, at which point I turned into a big baby and whined the whole way back. Johnny is a good man to put up with me. Anyway, yes, Versailles was fun.
