we went to europe: mont saint-michel

Okay, Mont Saint-Michel was one of our favorite parts of the trip. It's the inspiration for the movie Tangled (need I say more?). If you ever go to France, do what you have to get here. The French countryside alone was worth it, but this cathedral/castle/village on an island blew us away. We stayed in a French B&B...awesome! And Johnny couldn't pass up the opportunity to do his famous pose of jumping over a haystack because Mont Saint-Michel was in the background.

The island itself has small, windy streets that you enter through a drawbridge, eventually leading to the cathedral at the top. The whole thing felt a lot like Lord of the Rings, making it of course the coolest thing ever. (Legolas, where are you?) The church was beautiful, the knight's quarters looked like a movie set, and the overall experience was stupendous. It was a mix between Disney and Middle Earth. Have I convinced you yet to go?

  1. Oh. My. Gosh. Words fail. It's amazing! I just asked Dave if he's ever been there (he was a big traveler as a kid), and though he hasn't, he just informed me the movie Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was also filmed there. So, considering all these movie allusions and your awesome pictures, it's obviously going on the bucket list.
