this video changed my life!

^^ I have never felt more understood or loved than after watching this video. I'm so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows and cares for each of us individually.

Today I had a conversation with a friend about our daily schedules and what it's like when our husbands come home and ask what we did all day. For me, sometimes I feel like I have nothing to tell him--made food, cleaned disasters, folded laundry, kept two children alive--and like I have nothing physical to show for my day. And then there are days where our activities sound really glamorous--went to the beach, walked to the bakery, visited the museum--but in all honesty, the beach was spent running the whole time to keep kids from drowning, the bakery was met with a meltdown and stealing the other's donut, and the museum lasted ten minutes because the kids kept escaping the stroller and running for the artwork. It wasn't so glamorous in the details.

But then this video put it all into perspective. You never know how your small actions might help someone else. Maybe my day wasn't so pointless after all, or maybe the frustration I feel like all the time is worth it if I did one small, good thing that day. Thank you for this video! And to all the moms out there, you might not know it, but you are doing a good job! ^^

video of shame

^^ I had a conversation the other day with friends about how Johnny doesn't like to take me hiking with him. I think that's ridiculous, but then I came across this video from when we were in Utah this past summer. Maybe he's right; this is a pretty incriminating video.

Happy weekend. And don't think too much less of me. ^^

the annual irish games

St. Patrick's Day is a party in our house every year (see here and here). We ate traditional Irish food for dinner, which is always followed by extremely irreverent and competitive Irish games. I think it gets worse every year, and by the end of the games on Sunday I had completely lost my voice. This year's games included "beer" drinking, an Irish jig contest, getting the most beats on a pedometer by shaking your head (so funny to watch), digging for leprechaun "poop" in flour, and a bunch of other games. It got pretty intense; well, just watch the video below.

sleeping baby time-lapse

We set up our camera to take a picture of Baby Girl every 15 minutes throughout the night. Here are a few things we learned:

1. Blankets are useless.
2. Sleeping with a hand or foot hanging through the slats is comfortable.
3. Holding still is not an option.

the best thing she ever ate

Well, Baby Girl likes sugar. A lot. While we were eating cake the other day, she snuck a fork full of frosting off the table and into her mouth. And for her, it was love at first lick. I know I'm in trouble because she got angry as soon as we took the frosting away. I'm going to have to watch this babe because if she's anything like her mamma, she'll be sneaking candy to bed at night.

real housewives of disney

Call me trashy, but if this were a real show, I most definitely would watch it!

happy 2012

We spent New Year's Eve with my sister Dani and her family the Hunts. So. Much. Fun. We had tons of fun playing Minute to Win It games. Just a few of the games we played included:

Stacking Starbursts on the forehead
Moving a cookie from the forehead to the mouth without using hands
"Water"pong
Using chopsticks to move a pile of rice

2011 has been an awesome year with a new baby, good job, and wonderful family. I can't wait to see what 2012 brings! (More babies?, grad school for Johnny, moving across the country...yes, it's going to be a good year!)

baby girl laughs!

Baby Girl is four months now and started laughing a couple of weeks ago. If you've ever seen babies giggle you know it's the absolute cutest thing in the world. If you haven't, where have you been? You need to watch more YouTube and America's Funniest Home Videos. Or just this video below.

johnny does a barrel roll in the airplane

While in Texas, Johnny went flying with a family friend who's also a pilot. They had a great time doing barrel rolls and flying super close to the ground, and luckily, I didn't know about it until after he was safe and on the ground. He married such a worry wart.

kayaking in the swimming pool

Johnny and his friend Ryan do some crazy things together (like this). So I wasn't really surprised when Johnny started hauling kayaks over to Ryan's house so they could learn to do eskimo rolls in his swimming pool. This is just a typical evening activity, right?

Do any other husbands out there do funny things like this? Someone tell me I'm not the only one married to a boy who won't grow up :)

Go Jett! My little brother is a stud.

I was panicking watching Johnny try to flip back over. I was seriously prepared to watch my husband drown upside-down in the swimming pool. Yes, I may be a bit melodramatic, but come on, can you imagine explaining that one to people?
